Catalytic Activated Carbon (CAC)

Catalytic Activated Carbon (CAC)
Catalytic Activated Carbon (CAC) – For advanced Aquarists, Freshwater & Saltwater Filtration Media
Our high-grade Catalytic Activated Carbon (CAC) manufactured by steam activation of selected coconut shell charcoal is ideal for modern reef aquarium systems and has been selected to align with DOC (SAC254) management methods.
It offers effective reduction of:
Dissolved organic compounds (DOC)
Complex pollutants and contaminants
Discolouration and odours
Tested via Oceamo ICP-MS, this carbon shows minimal trace element depletion when used as directed.
✅ How to Use:
Dose: 150g per 380 litres (83 imperial gallons)
Prep: Place in a 100–180 micron mesh bag and rinse thoroughly with RO/DI water before use
Position: Passive placement in the sump (final chamber after protein skimmer)
Duration: Effective for approx. 3–4 weeks
This method is consistent with established best practices for managing organic load.
SAC254 absorbance values, included in Oceamo’s full ICP-MS analysis, can be used to track dissolved organic compound levels and verify performance.
Supplied in 1000ml (500g) and 500ml (250g) resealable bottles – enough to treat approx. 1250 / 625 litres respectively
