Catalytic Activated Carbon (CAC)

Advanced filtration media

Our Catalytic Activated Carbon (CAC) is ideal for modern reef aquarium systems and has been selected to align with DOC (SAC254) management methods.

It offers effective reduction of:

• Dissolved organic compounds (DOC)
• Complex pollutants and contaminants
• Discolouration and odours

Fully tested and verified through the Oceamo laboratory, this Catalytic Activated Carbon was selected for its performance and suitability within modern reef aquariums. Oceamo ICP analyses have also demonstrated exceptionally low trace element depletion during use, making it an ideal choice for reefkeepers seeking effective contaminant and DOC reduction while maintaining trace element stability.

✅ How to Use

Active DOC Reduction (SAC254 Guided)
40g per 100 litres

Continuous Maintenance Use
10g per 100 litres

Place in a 100–180 micron mesh bag and rinse thoroughly with RO/DI water before use.

Position passively in the sump after the protein skimmer.

Replace or refresh every 3–4 weeks.

SAC254 absorbance values, included in all Oceamo ICP analyses (ICP-MS and ICP-OES), can be used to track dissolved organic compound levels and verify performance.

Available Sizes

250g (500ml tub)
Treats approximately 625 litres at active dosage or 2,500 litres at maintenance dosage.

500g (1000ml tub)
Treats approximately 1,250 litres at active dosage or 5,000 litres at maintenance dosage.

This method is consistent with established best practices for managing organic load.

Suitable for both marine and freshwater aquariums.
